In order to enter the Super Arcade Mode, you must type a password on the title screen corresponding to the ship you wish to use. Rear Guns are unavailable in this mode, but to make up for that each ship comes with two different Special Weapons, with the secondary fire button being used to switch between them.

Thing is, the game is balanced so that you max out around the end of the third episode (when the full game originally ended before Episodes 4 and later 5 were added), so its expected that you have a maxed out ship by this point in the game. If Im going to even think about trying this, I would need a cheat for enough money to max out the ship.
