Menuing is full screen, but it's usually stuff of interest to both players - and form switching can be done in-action.
It does drag the other player around if you talk to someone or go in doors, so we just have one person do all of that so its more predictable. (Guacamelee! isn't our style, but we did play it a bit.)

Plus its cute and funny - although not nearly at cute as CQ. The console co-op is exactly what we want and can be hard to find: easy same not-split screen, mostly shared items/xp/experience, not rogue-like and death isn't "start all over", there is some random generation but the whole world isn't random, there is a plot, and lots of emergent gameplay with some unique concepts.
We're not too far into it but so far r/NobodySavesTheWorld ( ) on console has been great. Knights and Bikes and Swords of Ditto before that, and Diablo III way too much. We've beat CQ II many times, and have worn out Minecraft Dungeons. For those looking for other couch co-op overhead casual-but-not-trivial games.as there aren't a whole lot.
